| What is the date of the last documented lynching? With a rope and a crowd in the picture? |

| After viewing , the pictures several physcial and emotional feelings flushed across me quickly. Can we only realize that these horrific acts was not that long ago. I ask the almighty father and heaven to try to help me understand how any human with the breathe that God has granted them could do such horrifc and unspeakable acts ,such as these. But I stop and tell myself that if they could put our Savior JESUS CHRIST on a cross and brutually murder him , then it is possible. Our blood from our ancestors are pouring through us and we have a responsibilty as african-americans to mentally and spritually impower ourselves ,so that we can stop the lynchings of our era. But instead of the white race engaing in pulling the rope that cuts off the breathe of our life , we as african-americans are the one pulling our own rope. Let's please stop the self-genocide of our race.Donny Hathaway has a song titled "Someday we'll all be free! God is going to deliver us and wipe the tears of all our ancestors , he will wipe the blood and he will deliver us I PROMISE THIS! We have to pray and ask God to help us forgive the people who are trying to destroy us in every possible way. Hold your head and understand your past , and acknowledge it and move on to creating a greater future , so that our future genorations won't have to cry as much! Just wait and see Someday We'll All Be FREE!!! |

| It blows my mind that anyone could actually believe that they are better than someone else. GOD created us all equal and if you really believe in GOD you should know that immediately. How could or would it be that the GOD we serve would make one better than the other.I choose to believe that He loves us all equally and that we all should love him. As for those that did these horrible things, may GOD have mercy on their souls and, forgive them LORD for they know not what they do. |

|
|
I was introduced to this website in my African American History class at my college. As we watched the slideshow in class, so many emotions came over me. I was embarrassed and ashamed to look at the pictures. Upon realization that these were sent as postcards, such a routine thing, I was even more horrified.
I am a white woman, just trying to understand others' points of view taking a class that I thought would widen my horizons. Oh, how my horizons have been widened! After the class in which we watched the slideshow, I cried all the way back to my apartment. How can people be so blatenly evil? How could those men stand there and delight in another's pain? Was the darkness of the victim's skin so vile to them that they thought they could torture and terrorize him? I am ashamed at this moment to be a human. How can people do this to each other? It makes me sick. This sickness makes me realize that I could never hurt anyone in any way, and I thank God for it. |

Goodness!
I came arcoss this website and via researching lynching in the U. S. I am often bewildered at how people can be so cruel and so evil to one another just becasue they are afraid of what is diffrent or a challenge to them. Lynching was not a form of justcie as is was so often used as it was a form of keeping people in their places and terrorizing them. I looked at these photos the one 38-40 bother me the most and could feel the grief, anger and fear in my spirit. How those mobs could listen to their victims screams and watch another human being die a misreable death is beyond comprehension. It is as if those who make up, watch and participate are not human themselves. The experiences of our past should at least help us to mend and erradicate the very rasism that brings about mob violence and this most horrible form of home made terrorism. |
