It's difficult to look at these photographs and understand why people did such horrific things to one another. It's sick to see small children smile at the sight of a person being burned or hung in front of crowds of cheering people. While society has come a long way from those times, similar things still happen today. These photos are here to remind us that we still have work to do in overcoming our differences, and to hopefully encourage us to push forward into creating a better future for everyone all over the world. Photograph number 12 really made me stop and look. Their was a man hung on a well lit telephone pole. The people did this so that they could display him as their accomplished piece of "art" for passing trains and others to see. The fact that these acts were nothing out of the ordinary for the people during that time seems inhumane, and is very sad. However, one of the reasons why websites like this exist is to help humanity learn from its past and to improve its present and future.
