"Why can't we all just get along?"
I keep hearing this question over and over and over and over.
and over.
and.
over.
and over.
I can't answer it.
However, I do believe that we place limitations on ourselves in regards to who we get along with, whether by nature or by choice.
I believe there are a lot of factors that determine who gets along with who.
For example, if I saw a "white" guy walking down the street toward me, I would probably (subconsciously) make one million judgements about him, without even knowing who he really was, WITH THE assumption that he may or may not be racist. Bad habit, to think in terms of whether or not someone is racist rather than whether or not this person is a dignified, loveable human being. (no offense to anyone. If you take offense, however, then take all the offense you want; For it was not my intent.)
But I wonder, do people make the same judgements about me? Probably so.
My point is... is that limitations such as (stereotypes...et cetera) hinder people from seeing the truth. |
