I visited this site for a history class, and could you guess it would be an African American history class :?: , otherwise I probably wouldn't have learned about it in 'white' history. Just the idea of post cards of this matter is repulsive. It is sad to think that only 100 years ago, people would write home about going to see a lynching and even provide a photo to show they were there.

To some people, watching a human die may do something for them. As far back as Roman times (and probably before) people would fight to the death against each other for the mere entertainment aspect.
Lynching is totally different though. Blacks had no way to fight back. It wasn't even a 'one-on-one' battle. They had no weapons, nothing at all to fight back with. The excitement didn't come from seeing who would die, it came from knowing that the African American would die. The idea is very warped.

The harsh reality of these historic photos will hopefully stay historic and not reality. It is important to see where we came from to see where we can go, and I hope that something like this will never come back.
