I saw the movie by James Allen & John Littlefield, about the lynchings..
The media will gladly show us endless documentaries about what the awful nazi's did to the Jews, show us Schindler's List, photos of bodies piled high. But they won't "air" America's own dirty linen; they will not show documentaries about the American Holocaust, African Americans tortured, mutilated, hanged, burned. And forgotten. Buried or left to rot. Those who did these acts probably had their conscience pricked more by stepping on an ant. There are many things we will never know about. Freedom of speech, so highly touted in America, is rather a figure of speech. I don't believe this country allows such a thing as freedom of truth. It was founded and built upon a drought of truth. I hope anyone who reads this will consider reading A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn.[/i] |
